Choosing a cake
There are so many ideas out there that choosing your cake can be a daunting task, although some brides have a fixed idea of what they want having seen it somewhere and fallen in love with it there & then.
When making your choice, you need to consider the following:
- Is the cake going to be set up at the venue or will you be collecting it and driving to a venue at a distance & setting it up yourselves?
- How many guests are you anticipating, and will the cake be served as a dessert after the main meal, with an evening buffet or given to people to take home?
- Will there be mainly adults or a large number of children present? Kids love cupcakes & they are easy for them to handle!
- If you want a tiered cake, how do you want the cakes stacked - directly on top of each other, on pillars or stands?
- Do you know how many tiers you would like?
- If you want cupcakes, do you also want a cake to cut for photographs?
- What flavours do you both like/hate?
- If you are thinking of having a fruit cake, is it because you feel you ought to or because you actually like it? If you don't like it don't have it, or I can make a small cutting cake iced the same colour as your main cake which is cut in the kitchen & handed out later.
- What sort of look are you going for - romantic, bold, funny, themed?
- Do you like bride & groom figures or would you like something a bit different?
- If you find a design you love, I can make it for you, but I will have to make some changes to it to avoid copyright so think about what changes you would be happy with.
- If you're still not sure what you want, look in magazines or on-line and cut out ideas you do like & don't like to give yourself a starting point.
I hope these have given you some useful points to consider |
